The Central Okanagan is situated along the shores of the Okanagan Lake in the southern interior of British Columbia. The region consists of more than 2,904.0 square kilometres  of diverse landscapes and topography including nearly 7,300 acres of clean, sandy beaches, rich agricultural land and forested hills. With a population of approximately 106,707, Kelowna is the largest community in the Central Okanagan and one of the fastest growing cities in BC. Kelowna is located approximately 400 km east of Vancouver, BC, and 130 km north of the United States border.

The economy of this region is well diversified, with agriculture, forestry, and tourism all being important industries. The warm climate makes this area one of the most important agricultural centres in the province. The improved transportation links to the Lower Mainland have enhanced the Central Okanagan as a place to locate secondary and tertiary manufacturing. The new university and aerospace campus also attract business investment. Agriculture, tourism and the popularity of the region as a retirement centre ensure continued growth for this region. Residential construction has risen rapidly in recent years.
